#5: Create a self-care plan for your dating life (no sheet masks necessary)

Today, we’re getting tactical about your self-care strategy. And I’m not talking about a bubble bath or a sheet mask.

I know that self-care can be (and should be) even deeper than that. (and bonus, the methods I’m teaching today don’t cost any money!).

On today’s episode, we’ll talk about how you can create a dating life that feels like self-care with three really easy (and maybe out-of-your-comfort-zone) steps.

Growth happens outside of our comfort zones, so let’s go!

Here’s a breakdown of today’s episode:

  • One Mindset Shift:

    • The key to attracting the right people is adopting the mindset that you are for the few, not for the many.

    • This will free you from playing the numbers game!

    • This idea comes from Seth Godin’s Minimal Viable Audience theory

    • Try this at home: Write down one reason someone someday soon will feel lucky to be your partner. Why are you for the few, not for the many?

  • One Boundary:

    • All you need is ONE boundary which will create a more empowering process.

    • Dr. Brene Brown’s definition of boundaries is perfect: “It’s as simple as this is OK, this is not OK.”

    • One boundary I often suggest to clients is to practice something called Heart Time: any time you spend swiping, messaging potential dates, or even talking about your dating life, do it with intentionality.

    • Try this at home: Limit the time you spend on dating apps & only open them when you feel cozy, awake, and intentional. Think about one way you’ll start to set a boundary with your precious heart time.

  • One Conversation:

    • Your dating life may not be the greatest if you’re stuck in a negative conversation.

    • Venting is great, but you need a negative-talk-free evening in order to really move forward.

    • Try this at home: Invite your friends over and ask them to take a “negative talk break” with you (even about dating). Talk about how it feels to be more positive and optimistic in conversation around dating!
