43. Dating as a feminist act

Dating is a hotbed of patriarchal, conventional bullshit.

For example: "Laugh more on a date. Boys like girls who are jovial. Be more of a mystery. Guys like the thrill of the chase. Ask more questions. Get on all the dating apps because it's a number's game."

Translation: Dating successfully means making yourself smaller, talking less, going on more dates, lowering your standards— #bullshit.

In this episode, I shine the light on how dating can be a feminist act and what dating from an intersectional feminist lens can look like. When you permit yourself to want what you want, you extend that permission to others around you. How you date is an expression of who you are as a woman in the world.

I want you to find your life's most extraordinary love with the emotional tools you need to do so. Finding love on your terms is possible; figuring out how to do so on your terms and how you plan to show up is the first step.

Here’s a breakdown of today’s episode:

  • Dating is a microcosm + how we date matters to our overall well-being.

  • Express your power as a person/as a woman in your dating life.

  • How dating as a feminist shows up.

  • Shining with your brilliance means creating boundaries, understanding what you want, practicing self-care, and self-compassion.
